Writing & Resume
While they do say a picture is worth a thousand words, most clients actually want a thousand words accompanying their photos, and I am more than qualified to assist you, as I have been in the industry since 2000. I was the editor and main feature writer of one of SA's largest lifestyle motoring magazines, my time at the magazine exposed me to many different lifestyle events and people, both locally and internationally, which means I now have an invaluable contact list. Dealing with so many varied people and personalities means I've had to make sure that my writing style is versatile, ranging from casual to corporate to technical, whatever your requirements. Should the brief require something outside my scope of expertise, I am a skilled researcher and am flexible within my skill set and your needs will be well tailored. My photography & journalism skills (as well as being an all-round nice guy) have allowed me to attend many exclusive events and I've been lucky enough to capture great images of SA’s hottest bands, scariest EFC fighters, most amazing motoring events, the coolest tattoo artists and also extreme athletes. My work can be found in various local publications (available on request) and is also strewn across the internet on blogs and in online magazines. I started out in the motoring industry and as such, I am very passionate about motoring and am a member of the South African Guild of Motoring Journalists (SAGMJ) which allows me to cover many great motoring events and new car launches in South Africa and abroad. Experience and current work I was part of the Speed and Sound Magazine start up team in 2000 which initially consisted of five people. The magazine quickly flourished and the team grew - we soon became the biggest performance motoring magazine as well as the second biggest motoring magazine in SA. I covered most of the performance motoring and lifestyle events for the magazine which is where my photography skills were fine-tuned over the years. Covering events enabled me to form invaluable industry contacts, as well as being their contact on the ground. I became well known as Krutch thanks to four years on crutches, which went on to be my writing name in the magazine. I have been freelancing since 2014 for various pages and publications, both online and print, which feeds my passion for my career. Some responsibilities at magazines *60-100% of the magazine's written content *Managed a team of countrywide freelancers *Managed the in-house editorial team *Feature research, interviews and photo shoots *Event coverage Freelancing I started freelancing part-time since 2012 & began full-time in Sept 2014. I have used my contacts in various industries to build a client base, enabling me to explore the diverse aspects of my skill set. Because of my love for photography and writing, there was no project too big or small and I am really enjoying the variety of my work. My favourite Richard Branson quote reads; "If someone offers you an amazing opportunity and you're not sure you can do it, say yes-then learn how to do it later."
